Am I the only one who has found this site? ;D Heres my Stars Dream Team ---- OVE FUNDIN, AUB LAWSON, BERT SPENCER, BILLY BALES, BOB LEVERENZ, FRED ROGERS, PHIL CLARKE, PADDY MILLS. With MAX GROSSKREUTZ as Manager, Trainer, Bike Builder (he did all these jobs) and LES MULLINS as the team mechanic assisted by Trevor Hedge we would wipe the floor with everyone. No need for Guest riders, joker double points or rider replacement with an outfit like this one. 4 Englishmen + Bert (who was born in England), 2 Australians and the Worlds GREATEST EVER from Sweden. -- Who could wish for more. If only the Firs was available.

Thanks to you I have now found the site.
Difficult to argue with your dream team but mine is based on riders I have seen since 1954. OVE FUNDIN, AUB LAWSON, BILLY BALES, PHIL CLARKE, TERRY BETTS, OLLE NYGREN, GERRY HUSSEY AND CYRIL ROGER. I'll nominate GORDON PARKINS as manager and LES MULLINS as team mechanic

Not a bad looking line-up. Pity Gerry Hussey only did half a season with us. We could have used him for some more seasons than that.

While we always remember the top riders how about the lesser riders who were often the thrill makers.
Clive Featherby, Harry Edwards, Geoff Pymar, Peter Atkins, Arnie Hendricksen, Johnny Chamberlain, Jimmy Gooch and Shorty Schirmer.

Yes, we had a number of lesser lights. All worthy of mention. How about Wilf Jay, Jack Freeman, Alec Hunter, Fred Pawson, Merv Neil, Bill Birtwell, Jock Sweet and my favourite at the end of the time at the Firs ......... Hard Hungarian SANDOR LEVAI. They didnt mess him about on track thats for sure, he only wanted a chance and he took it, going on from the Firs to be a good rider for Belle Vue, Newport, Cradley Heath and that other mob from Suffolk.

Only one change by yours truly - on his pre-war record alone, Wal Morton instead of Paddy Mills.
